Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German jet fighter Messerschmitt Me 262 from Academy in 1:72 scale, in the special Last Ace edition. The box offers markings for both the A-1a fighter version and the A-2a fighter-bomber, so you can choose which form of the real aircraft to build. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; for the exact contents of the box, follow the enclosed instructions.
The Me 262 Schwalbe was the first jet fighter in the world to enter series service. A pair of turbojets under the wings gave it a speed that piston fighters could not match. The A-1a version was a pure fighter armed with four cannon in the nose, while the A-2a carried bombs as a fast fighter-bomber. It went into action in the closing stage of the Second World War, and despite technical trouble and a shortage of fuel it foreshadowed the postwar development of jet aviation.
First finish and spray the cockpit before you close the fuselage. Mask the glazing and paint it separately. The mottled camouflage schemes of the late Luftwaffe are characteristic, and an airbrush with thinned paints pays off for soft transitions. A panel wash will bring out the engraving; discreet weathering on the engine nacelles and worn metal on the leading edges will add to the model's authenticity.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
