Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German jet aircraft Messerschmitt Me 262A-2a in 1:72 scale. It is the bomber (fighter-bomber) subversion also known as the Jabo, which carried racks for bomb armament under the nose. The kit has engraved surface detail, a clear cockpit canopy and decals for two color schemes. The more modern Airfix tooling goes together well and suits less experienced modelers too.
The Me 262 was the first jet aircraft in the world to be mass-produced and used in action. It was powered by two Junkers Jumo 004 jet engines slung under the wings, which let it outpace the Allied piston fighters. The A-2a version was adapted for strikes on ground and point targets; its high speed made it very hard for Allied fighters to intercept. It was used in the closing phase of the Second World War.
Glue the plastic parts with thin model cement for plastic, which wicks into the joint by capillary action. Cover the cockpit glazing before painting, using masking tape or cut masks. A primer and spraying with an airbrush work well; the typical late-war mottled camouflage comes into its own once the panel lines have been gently picked out with a wash. It is best to finish the engine nacelles and the cockpit with its instruments before closing the fuselage up.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
