Wheels for the Privateer 1:72, grooved tread from Plusmodel: a cast replacement for the landing gear wheels.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of landing gear wheels in 1:72 scale for a model of the American Privateer patrol bomber, in the form with a grooved tread pattern. The manufacturer releases the form with a diamond pattern alongside it, so you can pick the right one from period photographs of a particular machine. Cast wheels have a legible pattern over the whole surface, which does not hold for plastic parts because of the mold split line. It is not an aircraft kit but a replacement for parts.
The Privateer was an American naval patrol bomber derived from the four-engine Liberator, from which it differed in its single vertical tail surface and its lengthened fuselage. It flew long patrol flights over the sea, where range and endurance decided, and it stayed in service long after the war. Its landing gear carried a considerable weight, so the settling of the tires is clearly visible in photographs.
First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water so that traces of mold release agent disappear. Cut off the casting blocks with a saw and level the mark; sand with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate. Do not paint the tire black: aged rubber is more of a dark gray, and tell the hub apart with a shade that matches reality. Pick the tread grooves out with a dark seeping coat, otherwise they will disappear.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted and it is an accessory, not a kit. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
