1:72 R-3R missiles with pylons for the Mikoyan MiG-21 is a resin detail set from Eduard's Brassin line. It is external stores for a model, not a kit of the aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set contains resin parts of external stores for models of the MiG-21 fighter in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Eduard. Besides the R-3R missiles themselves, the product name says that the pylons on which the missiles hang under the wing are included - which is practical, because it is the pylons that tend to be the coarsest parts in kits of this scale. The set belongs to the Brassin resin line: the castings have thinner lifting surfaces and crisper edges than can be injection-molded in plastic in this scale. The number of pieces in the package is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The R-3R is the semi-active radar-homing version of the Soviet short-range guided missile of the R-3 family, carried by MiG-21 fighters equipped with an onboard radar. It is told from the infrared version of the same family mainly by the differently arranged forward section with the antenna cover. Confusing the two versions is among the most common inaccuracies on MiG-21 models, because kits and reference sources often mix them up.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent and cut the casting blocks off with a saw; on the thin surfaces of the missiles work carefully so that they do not break off. They are bonded with super glue. In 1:72 the fit is what matters: the missiles have to hang parallel to the longitudinal axis of the aircraft, or the whole model looks crooked - it pays to check by looking from behind. Apply a primer before painting, and bring the fine lettering out with a light wash rather than a dry brush, which would paint over the thin edges.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit in its own right. The plastic model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
