Self-adhesive masks from the Czech manufacturer Peewit for a plastic model of the Republic RF-84F Thunderflash reconnaissance aircraft in 1:72. The set allows the canopy glazing to be masked exactly to the shape of the frames, so that the inside of the canopy stays clear and the lines of the frames come out sharp. It is a modeling accessory tied to a particular kit in this scale, so check the compatibility beforehand.
The RF-84F Thunderflash was the reconnaissance version of the Republic F-84F Thunderstreak swept-wing fighter-bomber. Because of the photographic equipment in the nose, its air intakes were moved into the wing roots, which is the most noticeable difference from the fighter version. The machine served with the US Air Force and with a number of European users and carried out tasks of tactical photographic reconnaissance.
Lift the masks off with tweezers and apply them to clean, degreased glazing. The teardrop canopy has a pronounced curve, so lay the mask from the center toward the edges and press it down gradually so that it does not wrinkle. Spray the frames first in the interior color and then in the outer shade. With the glossy metal surfaces typical of reconnaissance machines, apply the metallic finish last, as it is harder to mask and to overspray. Lift the mask off as soon as the paint has set.
