1:72 stabilization and control surfaces for the AIM-120C AMRAAM are a small resin replacement for the surfaces of an air-to-air missile, an accessory to a kit, not an aircraft model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a resin accessory set, not an aircraft kit. It replaces the stabilization and control surfaces of the AIM-120C AMRAAM missile, that is exactly the parts that tend to be thickest and least accurate on the plastic parts from a kit. The C version differs from the earlier AMRAAMs in its shortened surfaces, which allow the missile to be carried in an internal weapons bay as well; on a model this is a detail an informed viewer notices at once.
In 1:72 scale every tenth of a millimeter shows. Plastic fins on external stores have a thick profile and a rounded leading edge because of the injection molding process, which looks disproportionately coarse on a slender missile. The replacement is thinner, with sharper edges, and simply goes in place of the original parts. The set is also welcome when you have damaged the original surfaces cutting them from the sprue.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry thoroughly. Cut the casting blocks off with a new, sharp blade; with parts this small it pays to work over a tray with a raised edge so that nothing escapes. They are bonded with cyanoacrylate, ideally applied with a pin so that the excess does not run onto a visible surface. Apply a thin primer before painting. Fit the surfaces along the axes of the original parts and let them cure thoroughly before handling them further.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The kit, the missiles, glue and paints are not included, unless stated otherwise.
