An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet T-34/85 medium tank in the Model 1944 version in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The model offers finely shaped running gear, a cast turret and rubber band tracks. The package contains a decal sheet and assembly instructions.
The T-34/85 was a markedly improved variant of the T-34 tank. It received a larger, roomier cast turret with a crew of three and above all a more powerful gun of 85 mm caliber, which gave it back the ability to fight the heavier German tanks effectively. The lower, flatter silhouette of the turret gave the T-34/85 a look that postwar tank design set out from. The vehicle stayed in the service of many armies long after the war.
Paint the running gear and the road wheels before you fit the tracks. Bring the cast turret to life with a fine surface texture. The base is Russian green (protective green); a dark wash will bring out the panel grooves and the shadows and a drybrush will pull out the edges and the rivets. Dust and mud pigments on the lower hull and on the tracks will add a faithful patina, and you can suggest scraped metal on the edges with a graphite pencil or silver pigment. In the small 1:72 scale, bet rather on fine effects.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
