A kit of the French VBL light armored vehicle in the version carrying Milan antitank guided missiles. The 1:72 scale is popular for military subjects in dioramas and in collections where space is short, and it is at the same time among the most widespread for aircraft, so it combines well. The ACE brand has long devoted itself to less usual subjects that are not to be found elsewhere. Check the contents of the package, the number of parts and the presence of supplementary materials against the breakdown on the box.
The VBL is a small French 4x4 armored vehicle, that is with drive to all four wheels. It was designed as a light, fast and easily transported means for reconnaissance, liaison and escort, with armor against small-arms fire and splinters. Thanks to its low weight it can be carried by helicopter. The vehicle exists in many adaptations according to the task and one of them is exactly this carrier of the Milan antitank system. The Milan is a guided antitank missile fired from a launcher with an optical sight, which the operator steers onto the target throughout its flight. The combination of a very light vehicle and an effective antitank weapon gave units a mobile means against armored vehicles without having to commit tanks.
In 1:72 scale the parts are tiny, so separate them from the sprues with a sharp knife and rather with a margin that you then remove with a file. Prepare the launcher and its sight separately and fit them only onto the finished vehicle. Put the wheels on once the running gear is painted. Color schemes of French equipment tend to be single-color or two-tone; at this size choose a shade somewhat lighter than the subject would call for, because a small model darkens optically. Keep the weathering very fine, since a coarse wash would swamp a model at this scale.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
