Yak-1b Vacu Canopy — a clear vacuum-formed canopy in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Brengun. A thinner and clearer replacement for the kit glazing of a model of the Soviet Yak-1b fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
A vacuum-formed canopy from the Czech maker Brengun, intended for a particular Brengun kit. Drawn from thin clear film, the canopy has a markedly finer profile and better transparency than an ordinary injection-molded part - a Yak-1b model in 1:72 scale looks far truer with it, especially with the canopy open.
The Yakovlev Yak-1b is a late variant of the Soviet Yak-1 fighter of the Second World War. A cut-down fuselage spine and a bubble canopy gave the pilot all-round vision - and it is this characteristic canopy that the vacuum-formed part renders.
Cut the part out of the film with sharp scissors leaving a small overlap and sand the edge down on fine abrasive paper laid on a flat surface. Use white PVA glue or a special cement for clear parts - the fumes of super glue can fog transparent surfaces. Spray the frames through masking stencils or masks. Transparency can be improved further by polishing or by dipping the part in gloss varnish.
This is a replacement clear part, not an airplane model in its own right. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
