A resin set for the pilot area of a model of the Italian Macchi C.205 Veltro fighter in 1:48 scale. It replaces the standard cockpit fit with parts with crisper detail.

The Macchi C.205 Veltro was among the peaks of the Italian fighter school of the Second World War. It came about by combining the proven airframe of the C.202 Folgore type with a more powerful inverted V12 Daimler-Benz DB 605, which was built in Italy under license as the Fiat RA.1050 RC.58 Tifone. The result was a fast aircraft with a good rate of climb and with armament strengthened by 20 mm cannons in the wing. The cockpit stayed cramped, and under the framed canopy it is clearly visible on a model, so every detail pays off.
The set concentrates solely on the pilot area. The resin parts replace the cockpit fit with more accurate shapes that injection-molded plastic cannot deliver. The range of the parts, their position and the extent of the modifications needed to the fuselage are described in the instructions of the manufacturer.
The parts are not of polystyrene, and ordinary cement for plastic will not join them. Use cyanoacrylate glue or a two-part resin. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder carefully. Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water and degrease them, or the paint will take badly. Sprayed acrylic paint complemented by a dark fill in the recesses and a dry brush on the edges proves itself. Set the cockpit in dry before you glue it in for good, and correct any slack by sanding the fuselage halves.
The set is aimed at the modeler who is building a fighter with the canopy open and wants the cockpit to hold up even from close quarters.
The package contains only the supplementary set. The model of the aircraft, paints, glue and decals are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
