AK Synthetic DRY BRUSH, M (AK Interactive)

A synthetic brush for the drybrush technique from AK Interactive, size M, medium. It is not a kit and not an ordinary painting brush but a specialized aid. The fibers are shorter, stiffer and packed densely into a rounded end, close in shape to a cosmetic brush. The stiff bundle stands up to friction against a surface, the rounded end spreads the remaining paint evenly and the fibers return to shape after every stroke.

How drybrushing works

• Pick up only a small amount of paint, as a rule a lighter shade than the base color.
• Wipe almost all the paint off on a paper towel and carry on until the brush leaves only a faint veil.
• Then pass lightly and quickly over the surface, so that the brush touches only the edges, the rivets and the raised detail.
• The paint stays only on the raised places and the recesses stay dark, which creates an impression of volume and wear.
• Apply it in several light layers, because excess paint is hard to remove.

Use

• Picking out edges, rivets and texture on the larger areas of a hull, a fuselage, wings or roofs.
• Suggesting worn metal and wear on the exposed places of vehicles.
• Picking out the relief of dioramas: brickwork, wood, terrain, rubble.
• Spreading dry pigments and dust effects over a surface.

Size M

The medium size covers a larger area in one stroke, so it works faster than size S. It suits larger models and dioramas; on the small detail of figures the smaller size S is more suitable.

Who it is for

For modelers who use drybrushing regularly on vehicles, aircraft, buildings and terrain and do not want to ruin their ordinary brushes on this coarse technique.

Paints and thinners are not included in the package. Thinners and cleaners are flammable, so work in a ventilated space and out of reach of children.
