AMT-12 Dark Grey 17 ml.

Real Colors RC978 AMT-12 Dark Grey, 17 ml

An acrylic model paint from the Real Colors line by AK Interactive, listed under the manufacturer's part number RC978. The bottle holds 17 ml. The shade is a dark gray with the designation AMT-12. The abbreviation AMT belongs to the Soviet flat aircraft lacquers of the Second World War period and the number after it identifies the particular tone.

Where the color is used

A dark gray forms the darker field of the two-color camouflage on the upper surfaces of Soviet aircraft. Its lighter counterpart, the blue-gray AMT-11, is listed in the same line under the number RC977, so both colors of the scheme can be obtained at once. Outside the aviation subject the shade suits the muted surfaces of vehicles, small accessories and use as a dark base for grading lighter grays.

How to work with the paint

• Mix the contents thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles at the bottom and without mixing the shade is not right.
• Apply it in several thin coats and let them dry between one another; one heavy coat floods the engraved detail of the surface.
• Dark surfaces swallow shadow, so scribed lines and rivets on them are accented with a lighter tone rather than with a dark line.
• Use the thinner intended for the Real Colors line for thinning and cleaning; the ratio is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
• Test the shade beforehand on a piece of scrap plastic rather than straight on the model.
• Close the bottle carefully after work, as open paint thickens.

Storage and packaging

Store the paint in a closed bottle away from both heat and frost. Thickened paint can be thinned again, but check the resulting tone on a test sample.

The package contains one bottle of paint holding 17 ml. Thinner, brushes, an airbrush and the model are not included, unless stated otherwise.
