AMMO ATOM COLOR Dunkelgrau RAL 7021 – German Tank Gray, 20 ml

A period shade from AMMO of Mig Jimenez's ATOM acrylic line. This is a modeling paint, not a kit. The shade Dunkelgrau RAL 7021, known among modelers as Panzergrau, was the uniform base coat of German armored and military equipment. Vehicles left the factory in this dark, near-black gray and carried it until 1943, when an order replaced it with dark yellow (Dunkelgelb) as the new base, over which green and brown camouflage patterns were then sprayed. Panzergrau is therefore the color of the early period — the campaigns in the west, in the Balkans, and the first years on the Eastern Front.

Use

• The overall base coat of German tanks, tank destroyers, armored personnel carriers, guns and trucks from the early period up to 1943.
• Also suits German artillery equipment, trailers and vehicles that kept the gray coat even after dark yellow was introduced.
• Applied with brush and airbrush alike; for the airbrush, thin it with water or acrylic thinner from the same line. Thanks to self-leveling, it forms a smooth, even surface without brush marks.
• The dark gray is a rewarding base for weathering: lighten the centers of panels, add dust filters, washes into detail and edge chipping — otherwise the vehicle looks flat.
• After 24 hours the coat is durable and takes enamel washes, filters, pigments and decal softeners.

Who the paint is for

For builders of German Second World War equipment who want a historically correct shade and do not want to mix it themselves. Figure painters and diorama builders will appreciate it too. Do not confuse this shade with the general-purpose dark gray ATOM Dark Grey from the same line: Dark Grey is a general dark gray for running gear and shadows, while Dunkelgrau RAL 7021 is a specific period coat with a clear historical place.

An odorless, water-thinnable acrylic. Even so, ventilate and do not inhale the aerosol when airbrushing. Keep out of the reach of children, and shake the bottle thoroughly before use.
