A hexagon head with a lowered profile, 0.6 millimeters in diameter. The middle step of the three finest sizes for a model motorcycle.
Responsibility details are not available.
0.6 mm lies exactly in the middle between the smallest and the largest of the fine steps of this line. That is precisely why it gets used up fastest: it is large enough to be seen once painted, and at the same time small enough not to exaggerate the joints on parts that are themselves small.
A hexagon with a half profile suits the places where the real subject uses an ordinary machine screw with no flange and no washer. On a motorcycle those are typically the joints of engine covers, the mounting of footpegs or the screws holding small brackets on the frame. For a modeler the point is that the head is neither a tall cylinder nor a flat disc – it looks like an ordinary screw, which is what most joints on any machine are.
The combined package of fine sizes holds this step along with the two neighboring ones. But when you build from photographs of a particular machine and measure the diameters, you usually come to the conclusion that you need one size by the dozen and barely touch the other two. Then it is more sensible to add it separately.
Before seating it, check whether the hole is at right angles. With a lower profile a part set in crooked shows far sooner than with a tall head, because it follows the plane of the surface and every deviation carries into the shadow. Guide the drill bit at right angles and without pressure.
