Fasteners with a hex head and a straight notch, 0.7 mm in diameter. The middle fine dimension for the frames, covers and brackets of motorcycle models.
Responsibility details are not available.
The straight notch milled across the hex is not an ornament. It arose from a workshop need: in places where the joint cannot be reached with a socket wrench, the bolt is loosened with an ordinary flat screwdriver. The English word minus denotes precisely this straight slot, as against the cross slot, which is called plus.
This diameter is a universal one on a model. It fits where the finest grade would disappear and the heaviest would look coarse: on fender mounts, on the lower flanges of covers, on the clips of lines along the frame. In 1:12 scale it works out at a head of around eight to nine millimeters, which is a common bolt size on a real motorcycle.
The most common mistake is too wide a hole. Start with a bit smaller than you need and widen it in small steps until the shank goes in with slight resistance. Then press the head home so that the notch points the same way as on the neighboring joints: real machines often have their slots aligned, and a model that imitates that looks a class better.
Wipe surplus glue off at once; a dried stain around the head shows under the paint. And if the joint lies at the junction of two parts, insert it only after they have been glued and cured, otherwise the hole shifts during assembly and the head tilts. On production machines this diameter recurs most often of all, so allow for it with a reserve.
