An injection-molded plastic model of the legendary British Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I fighter in 1:48 scale from the Japanese brand Tamiya. It is a modern tooling with outstanding parts accuracy; the box contains photo-etched parts, a seated pilot figure and clear cockpit parts with a choice of an open or a closed canopy.
The Spitfire was one of the main fighters of the Royal Air Force in the Second World War. The Mk.I was the first production type, which reached the squadrons even before the war; with its characteristic elliptical wing and its Rolls-Royce Merlin engine it played a key part during the Battle of Britain. It was gradually supplemented and replaced by more capable versions.
Assemble and paint the cockpit before closing the fuselage; glue the photo-etched parts (seat belts, gunsight, radiators) with cyanoacrylate glue. The cockpit glazing can be fitted open or closed - add the clear parts at the end and mask the frames carefully. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement for plastic. Apply primer before painting, spray the camouflage with an airbrush in thin coats and bring out the details with washes.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
