MAiM Bomb Explosions Set — three different sizes is a set of diorama explosion effects in a universal scale, intended to bring a scene to life rather than to build a model of equipment.
Responsibility details are not available.
It is not a kit and not a model of equipment, but a diorama accessory: a set of three explosion effects in different sizes. The designation Uniscale in the name means that the manufacturer offers the set as universal — an explosion effect has no fixed relation of scale to its surroundings, so the same piece will serve in a larger and in a smaller scale according to how strong a detonation you want to suggest. The heights of the individual pieces and the material are stated on the packaging of the product.
Dioramas with no movement look static. An explosion effect brings a moment into a scene — a hit, the detonation of a charge, burning equipment — and at the same time it works as a vertical accent that balances a low composition. Three different sizes in one set make it possible to grade the intensity: a smaller piece suits a hit on an individual target, the largest one the main feature of a whole scene. The effects can also be used to cover a less successful place in a composition or as a transition between the foreground and the background.
Choose the glue according to the material of the parts; with diorama effects super glue or a two-part epoxy, which takes a greater load on a tall and narrow part, most often works well. Sink the bottom of an effect into the base of the diorama so that the transition does not look stuck on — mask the surroundings with pigment and swirled dust. Work the painting from the bottom upward: dark earthy tones and soot at the foot, a warm orange and yellow core higher up, lightened grays at the edges of the smoke. An airbrush handles the transitions best; apply thin coats step by step. At the end, mist it lightly with a matte varnish so that the surface does not shine.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted, with no model of equipment. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
