Boxing Fighter is a Tamiya construction kit of a walking robot with a two-channel controller which throws punches with its arms as it walks.

A construction kit from the mechanical robotic range of the Japanese company Tamiya. The robot moves on two legs and at the same time moves its arms, and it is controlled with a two-channel controller with two levers. The body is made of ABS, the overall height is 144 mm, the width 92 mm and the length 141 mm with the arm extended, or 87 mm with it drawn in. The weight without the controller is 160 g. It is not a scaled-down version of a real subject, but a working mechanical model with a competitive use.
There are two independent gearboxes in the model, each driving one leg and, through a crank disc and a linkage, the arm on the same side as well. When the leg moves, the arm comes forward. Each gearbox has its own lever on the controller, so the model runs forward and back and turns to the left and to the right according to how you combine the levers. By repositioning the linkage in the elbow, the kind of punch changes from a straight one to an uppercut. A practice ball for training hits is in the package as well. Power is supplied by two AA batteries, which are not included in the package.
The parts are screwed and snapped together, a screwdriver is part of the package and no soldering is needed. During the build, watch that the arm linkage runs freely, otherwise the punch stutters. The model can be used on a course ending in a target, for knocking over obstacles that have been set up, or for a bout with a second example inside a marked circle. It walks best on a level smooth surface without carpet. Painting is not needed, as the parts are made of colored plastic.
The set is supplied unassembled. Batteries are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
