An effect acrylic paint whose shade shifts through emerald tones when a model is tilted. Intended for a black gloss surface, ideally with an airbrush.
Responsibility details are not available.
Paints with a shifting shade work thanks to a pigment that does not reflect light whole but splits it according to the angle of incidence. The result is an area that flows from one tone into another when a model is turned. This variant stays in the gemstone position of green and changes to cooler shades when seen from the side.
The layer under the paint has to be dark and smooth. Every groove or grain breaks the effect, because the pigment needs a flat surface on which the flakes line up in one direction. It therefore pays off to sand the surface with very fine paper before spraying and to degrease it.
The contents of the bottle are mixed before every use, otherwise the pigment stays at the bottom. Then come really light coats, between which the area is left to dry. The saturation grows gradually, and overdoing the coats leads to the shift of shade being lost and the area turning gray. Patience is what decides here, not the amount of paint.
The paint is water-based, is thinned with water and takes varnishing over once dry. The tools are cleaned right after work so that the pigment does not settle in the nozzle.
A finished area asks for careful handling, because fingerprints show on a smooth gloss more than on a matte paint. It is therefore better to take a model by its base and to dust off any dust with a soft brush rather than a cloth.
