CS39 - Leaking and Stains Grime & Dump

A paint set for leaking fluids, stains and grime

This is a themed set of modeling paints from the Italian brand Lifecolor. The subject of the set is finishing work, that is the marks that service leaves on real equipment: leaking operating fluids, dried stains and general grime on the surface. The specific list of shades, the number of bottles and the volume are given by the manufacturer on the packaging of the set. This is a paint set, not a kit.

What the set is suited to

A model in its base coat looks clean and flat. It is precisely the marks of service that give it scale and credibility, because the eye looks for them on every real machine. A themed set saves time when putting a palette together, because the shades are chosen for one kind of effect and sit well with one another. It comes into its own on equipment, on diorama structures and on the accessories of a scene.

Recommended procedure

• Work from the finer tones toward the stronger ones, adding more is always possible and taking it away considerably harder.
• Build the effect in thin layers and keep comparing it with photographs of real equipment.
• Test on an area that will not be seen, because the tone shifts once it has dried.
• Stir the contents of the bottle before use, the pigment settles to the bottom.
• Handle thinning and cleaning according to the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging.

Who the set is for

For modelers who want to move a finished model from a clean sample to a machine with a history of its own, and for diorama builders, where the marks of service appear not only on the equipment but on the terrain and the structures as well.

Keep the paints out of the reach of children, ventilate the area while you work and follow the manufacturer's safety instructions on the packaging.
