Tamiya Diorama Texture Paint - Grit Effect Light Sand is a water-thinnable texture paste with a coarser grain in a light sand shade. It serves for building terrain on diorama bases.
Responsibility details are not available.
A medium for creating terrain, not a conventional opaque paint. The paste contains solid resin particles, so in one step it creates both the color and the texture of the surface. The Grit Effect version has a coarser grain than the smooth soil variants, and the Light Sand shade matches light, dried-out sand - it suits gravel roads, loose edges and dry, dusty terrain. The container holds 250 ml, the manufacturer gives the coverage as roughly a B4 sized area in about two and a half coats, and drying takes around four to five hours. The maker is Tamiya of Japan.
The paste does not belong in an airbrush, as the solid particles would damage the needle and the nozzle. Always apply it by hand and preferably in thinner coats - a heavy layer dries from the top and stays damp at its core, which can cause cracks. Once dry, the surface is ready for the usual modeling weathering: an enamel wash brings out the hollows between the grains, a dry brush in a lighter shade picks out the peaks, and pigments add variations in color. Light sand is a rewarding base for pigments, because even a light application shows up clearly on it. Close the container carefully after use.
For builders of dry and desert dioramas, for vehicle modelers who want a quick, believable base, and for figure painters looking for a textured base without mixing plaster and sand.
Read the information on the packaging before use. Work in a ventilated space and avoid contact with the eyes. Keep out of the reach of children and protect from frost.
