This item is an accessory for a diorama and a display case, not a model of a vehicle. It carries the subject of the flag of Free France and is fitted to a base, to the caption of a scene or to the edge of a presentation board. The size of 40 mm is given directly in the name; the manufacturer also makes the same subject in a smaller 25 mm form, so you choose the format according to the size of the base.
Free France was a movement which from June 1940 set itself against the armistice and organized the continuation of the fight from abroad. Its flag joins the French tricolor with the Cross of Lorraine - a mark the movement chose as a counterweight to the symbolism of the occupying forces and which appeared on the aircraft, vehicles and ships of the units under its command. The subject is therefore comprehensible across periods and types of vehicle, from the North African battlefields to the Normandy landings and the liberation of France.
A flag subject works as a general definition of a scene, so it suits even where you do not want to name a particular formation. It looks best centered on the front edge of a base, where it competes with neither the figures nor the vehicles. Level and degrease the ground beforehand and leave the fitting for the very end of the work - a plaque is not shifted across a finished surface and the border stays clean. With glazed display cases bear in mind that the plaque should not be on the axis of a reflection.
