Heki crumple rock foil measuring 60 x 40 cm with granite relief, on which the final rock structure arises only when the sheet is crumpled and spread out again.
Responsibility details are not available.
This rock foil differs from smoothly formed kinds in that crumpling is part of the plan. The sheet is crumpled up and spread out again, which creates an irregular network of edges, cracks and fracture faces. Every piece therefore looks different and the same pattern is not repeated on a rock face, which tends to be the most conspicuous mistake over larger areas.
The relief is based on granite, that is on a coarse-grained rock which breaks into angular blocks rather than into thin beds. The sheet measures 60 x 40 centimeters, though once crumpled and formed it will cover a markedly smaller area than its flat size suggests. Allow for that when budgeting material for a large face.
First prepare the base of the rock, and only then crumple the foil and spread it out. Try the degree of crumpling as a dry run: a denser network of edges reads as a weathered face, a looser one as a fresh break. Trim the foil with scissors and run the edges along a natural crack. Apply paint in thin coats, first a gray base, after drying a darker glaze into the hollows and finally pick the edges out with a dry brush. The way it is fixed to a surface follows the manufacturer's instructions.
The foil will please those who build hilly terrain and want to avoid a repeating pattern. Even a beginner will manage the procedure, because the result is determined by the crumpling and the painting, not by an accurate cut.
The foil alone is supplied. The paints, the glue and a backing structure are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
