What the part is for

A station platform is easy to build on a layout until it comes to its end. That is exactly where it shows whether the builder has solved the transition from the platform edge back to the level of the track and the surrounding terrain, or whether he has simply cut the platform off somewhere. On real platforms the end usually falls away in a sloping ramp, so that it is possible to walk down it and to take a cart down as well. This part from the Heki company solves precisely this place.

Dimensions and scale

The size is 28 x 14 cm and the part is intended for N and Z scales, that is for the ratios 1:160 and 1:220. These are the small scales, where a platform takes up only a few centimeters, so the cleanness of the shape and an exact join to the surroundings decide the resulting impression rather than the amount of detail.

Usage tips

First try out dry the height of the platform edge against the track and against the rolling stock you have chosen, because a difference of a few millimeters shows at once in this scale. Level the join to the rest of the platform so that the surface carries on smoothly without a step. Fix it in place according to the manufacturer's instructions. In color leave the area rather gray and unobtrusive and add depth with a darker glaze at the edge and a fine light touch on the walking surface. Where it meets the terrain add ballast and thin grass.

The part is for builders of layouts and dioramas in N and Z scale who are finishing a halt or a smaller station. The paints, the glue and the rest of the platform are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
