An accessory set of D-30KP engines for a model of the Il-76M transport aircraft in 1:144 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Ilyushin Il-76 is a Soviet four-engine transport aircraft for carrying cargo, designed for operation from poorly prepared surfaces as well. It is powered by D-30KP turbofan engines hung on pylons under the wing. The M version is among the widespread renderings and its engine nacelles are among the features by which the type is recognized at first glance.
An accessory in 1:144 scale that replaces the engines from the Il-76M kit with a more faithful rendering. Accessories of this kind are bought for the sharper lip of the intake and the deeper exhaust section, because the plastic part tends to be shallow on the inside. The exact range of parts and the recommended procedure are given in the instructions enclosed with the package.
The parts are not polystyrene, so glue them with super glue. Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest down, so that the edge stays circular and the nacelle seats on the pylon without a gap. Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap, let them dry and apply a primer coat. Check the fit dry and leave the leading edges of the intakes until last, because they are easily knocked about during handling. With metallic shades on the exhaust section, work with a dark base and fine shading.
The set is intended for modelers who build the Il-76 in the small scale and want to make the most noticeable area of the whole model more accurate. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
