T-34/85 decals in 1:16 scale – Ukraine 1944

A set of decals for a large-scale model of the Soviet T-34/85 medium tank. It is not a kit or a spare part but an accessory with which you finish a built model off with period markings. The set covers the markings of formations operating in Ukraine in 1944.

The real subject

The T-34/85 was the final development version of the famous T-34 line. Against the earlier variant with its 76 mm gun it was given a larger three-man turret and an 85 mm gun. Thanks to that the commander no longer worked the weapon and could concentrate fully on directing the fight, which told on the performance of units more than the increase in penetrating power itself. The tank was the backbone of the Soviet tank and mechanized formations in the last two years of the war, and in the postwar decades it served in armies all over the world.

How to work with the decals

• Prepare the area under the decal with gloss clear — on a matte surface the carrier film tends to show as a light outline.
• Release the decal in warm water and move it into place with a brush, not with your fingers.
• A softener helps the film flow around rivets, welds, grab handles and bolt heads.
• Once it is dry and settled, seal the model with matte or semi-matte clear so that the markings blend with the surface.

Who the set is for

The set suits modelers who build the T-34/85 in 1:16 scale, whether a static model or a radio-controlled machine, and who want to place it with a particular formation and battlefield. The large scale makes the markings stand out, so the choice of numbers and symbols affects the final impression more than in small scales. It also suits a diorama in which the tank is the main feature of the scene.
