Tracks for the Japanese Type 94 tankette in 1:16 scale from PANZER ART. A resin accessory for a large-scale model of the small tracked vehicle.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin set of tracks for a model of the Japanese Type 94 tankette in 1:16 scale. It is not a kit of the vehicle but an accessory. Against European tanks the Type 94 is a small machine, so even in 1:16 scale the whole model stays fairly small and the individual track parts are fine, which makes it all the more important that they have sharp edges and a legible texture.
The Japanese Type 94 tankette was among the light tracked vehicles of the 1930s, which came about above all for reconnaissance, liaison and carrying supplies. It was small, light and crewed by few men; the narrow track and simple running gear went with that. That is exactly why tankettes are often built into dioramas today, where their size comes out in comparison with infantry or with ordinary transport vehicles.
The small links call for tweezers, a really sharp knife and calm: cut the parts by drawing, not pressing. Before painting, wash them in lukewarm water with dish soap so that the mold release agent disappears, and level the surfaces left by the casting blocks with fine abrasive paper and respiratory protection. It is glued with super glue in small drops. On a track this small it is better to layer fine effects than coarse weathering: a dark base, careful dry brushing in a steel shade and only mild dusting with pigments, so that the small texture is not lost.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
