This injection-molded plastic kit from the Japanese maker Aoshima captures the Nissan Skyline KDR30 in its Super Silhouette form from the 1982 season in 1:24 scale. The model renders the wide fenders, the aerodynamic additions and the aggressive look of a circuit racer faithfully. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the contents and the markings follow the manufacturer's catalog.
Super Silhouette was a Japanese racing category in which production cars were given widened bodies, turbocharged engines and striking aerodynamic elements. The Skyline KDR30 in team colors became one of the most iconic faces of that era and a symbol of the Skyline's return to the circuits in the early 1980s. Wide slick tires and a prominent front splitter give the car an unmistakable character.
Spray the body with an airbrush and go over it with gloss varnish for a deep racing look. Apply the sponsor decals onto a smooth gloss base, and paint the chrome and metallic elements only at the end. The interior and the engine bay deserve careful shading.
