What the set contains

A color interior for a model of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS of the 992 generation in 1:24 scale, prepared for the kit from Tamiya. The elements are applied to the interior parts and carry a color print, so the dashboard, the panels and the trim get detail that would otherwise have to be painted laboriously with a brush. The supplier lists the set as the smaller variant.

How the elements are applied

Soak the sheet briefly in lukewarm water and slide the element off the backing paper onto a gloss varnish, which holds it; it has no adhesive layer of its own and a softener would attack the printed resin. The surface under the elements has to be smooth, degreased and coated with gloss varnish, as they hold badly on a matte surface. Transfer the element with tweezers, first just lay it on and check its position against the edges of the part, and only then press it down. A toothpick or a blunt stick helps in corners and around raised areas. Work on a light surface, because small elements are hard to find on a dark table.

The real subject

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS of the 992 generation is the sharp circuit version of the 911 with a naturally aspirated flat-six engine. You will know it at a glance by its massive rear wing and by its lightened interior with bucket seats, where more structure and less trim are visible than in an ordinary road car. That is exactly why it pays to work the inside up on a model.
