A set of American guided aircraft bombs in 1:32 scale from Trumpeter. An accessory for models of combat aircraft, not an aircraft kit in its own right.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory set from the range of American aircraft armament in 1:32 scale. It contains plastic parts for guided aircraft munitions that the modeler hangs under the wings or the fuselage of a finished combat aircraft kit. It is not an aircraft model and nothing that stands on its own can be built from it. Trumpeter is a Chinese manufacturer of plastic kits, and its armament sets add what does not fit into the boxes with the aircraft themselves.
Unlike a classic unguided bomb, a guided bomb has a guidance unit and movable surfaces that correct its path toward the target during the fall. That is exactly why these stores have their typical look: an extended nose with a seeker and large tail surfaces, which on some types unfold after release. In 1:32 scale these details read clearly, so the set markedly changes the overall impression of a model even for a viewer standing some way from the display case.
Nip the parts off the sprue and sand the mold seam down along the whole length of the body; on long cylindrical shapes every irregularity shows. The tail surfaces are thin and break easily, so fit them only after painting. Spray the bombs away from the model, add the typical color bands over a narrow mask and unify the surface with a matte varnish. A drop of super glue will hold the store on its pylon reliably at the end.
