A metal set of the Browning M1919 A4 machine gun in .30 caliber, that is 7.62 mm, in 1:35 scale, completed by a mounting for the weapon. According to the name, the M20 anti-aircraft mount is available, as used for example on the M3 Stuart light tank, or the D7431 cradle, for example on the M3 Scout Car armored reconnaissance vehicle. It is not a vehicle kit but an accessory that you fit to a finished model.

What the set adds over the weapon alone

On a vehicle-mounted machine gun the weak point is usually the mounting itself. A plastic mount is thick, the seating face is imprecise and the weapon twists sideways or droops once glued. The metal version holds its shape even after gluing and lets you set the elevation and traverse exactly as the scene requires. Because the set offers two different mountings, it can be used on more types of vehicle and the unused part stays in the spares box.

Fitting and painting tips

First decide from a photograph of the vehicle which of the two mountings you will use, and only then cut the plastic part off the model. Assemble and paint the unit separately from the vehicle; on a finished model you can no longer reach the root of the mount. Degrease the metal with alcohol and prime it with a metal primer. Bond with cyanoacrylate glue or epoxy, and on heavier assemblies prefer epoxy, which takes the load. Set the elevation of the weapon before the glue sets and support the assembly until it cures. Finally bring out the edges with a dark wash and dirty the barrel lightly with pigment so the weapon does not look as if it had just come out of the store.
