A set of 20 mm ammunition for the German Flak 30 and Flak 38 anti-aircraft guns in 1:35 scale. A small accessory for a gun position and for a diorama.
Responsibility details are not available.
An add-on set of 20 mm ammunition for models of the German light anti-aircraft guns Flak 30 and Flak 38 in 1:35 scale. Both weapons were among the most widespread German light anti-aircraft armament and appear both on their own and on vehicles and ships' decks.
Ammunition is inconspicuous in a scene, but it is missed at once as soon as the scene is meant to look inhabited. Around a position, ready ammunition at the crew's hand, an open crate or a small heap of discarded rounds all come in useful. It is exactly such small things that separate a model standing on a board from a scene in which something is happening. It will also come into its own inside a vehicle or below deck, where the space for ammunition is visible.
The parts are small, so work with fine-jawed tweezers over a mat with a raised edge. Cut away surplus material and traces of manufacture with a sharp blade a short distance from the part and sand the remainder carefully. Before painting, wash and degrease the surfaces; for gluing, cyanoacrylate glue applied with the tip of a pin works well. Cartridge cases look best when you do not leave the brass shade uniform: glaze it over with a dark coat, which will draw into the recesses and give the metal depth. Pick the projectiles out in a different tone from the case and apply any color marking in a narrow stripe only, as a thick line spoils the whole effect of scale.
The package contains the accessories stated. The model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
