A plastic kit of the German multi-turret heavy tank Neubaufahrzeug in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The box captures the form with the main turret of Rheinmetall design, that is, the variant in which the two barrels stand one above the other. It is an injection-molded kit to be glued and painted.
The Neubaufahrzeug appeared in the middle of the 1930s as an attempt by the German army at a heavy breakthrough tank with several turrets. The Rheinmetall main turret carried a 7.5 cm KwK L/24 and, above it in a common mounting, a 3.7 cm KwK L/45; the competing Krupp turret had both guns side by side. In front of the main turret and behind it sat two small machine gun turrets derived from the turret of the Panzer I. Only five vehicles were built. The machine proved cumbersome and unreliable, so it served mainly for parades and for propaganda; three armored vehicles that reached Norway in 1940 saw combat, and they carried the Krupp turret. Not one has survived to the present day.
Finish and paint the running gear and the inside of the hull before you close the hull up – a chassis as complex as this is hard to reach afterwards. Keep the small turrets removable until the painting is over. On the dark German shade of the 1930s a lighter base coat pays off, so that the surface does not lose its modeling; bring out the edges with a dry brush and the seams between the armor plates with a dark wash. Finish off the dust and mud on the running gear with pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
