Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the heavily armored small PzKpfw.I Ausf.F tank in the late version from Hobby Boss in 1:35 scale. The model captures the compact hull with its markedly thick frontal armor, the turret with two machine guns and fully rendered running gear with interleaved road wheels. The kit is meant to be glued and painted.
The Pz.Kpfw. I Ausf.F, also known as the VK18.01, was an attempt to turn the Panzer I light tank into a well protected breakthrough machine. Despite its small size it carried frontal armor up to 80 mm thick and its armament consisted of two 7.92 mm machine guns. Only around thirty were built; some of them were used on the Eastern Front, among other places in the fighting at Kursk in 1943. The heavy armor slowed the machine down and the weak machine gun armament limited its combat use, but its small numbers and unusual appearance make it a sought-after subject among collectors.
Give attention to the running gear and the lower hull before they are closed, because with interleaved wheels it is easier to paint in stages. Use thin cement for plastic, a primer and an airbrush. The thick armor comes out well once the edges are picked out with a dry brush. On the compact hull even a simple camouflage scheme works well; you create mud and dust effects on the running gear with pigments and a dark wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
