An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese light reconnaissance tankette Type 97 Te-Ke in 1:35 scale by FineMolds (Japan). The set offers fine detail, individual link tracks and figures. It allows two armament versions to be built — with a 7.7 mm machine gun or with a 37mm tank gun.
The Type 97 Te-Ke was developed as the successor to the older Type 94 TK tankette for reconnaissance, communications and escort duties. This compact and light vehicle of the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) served in the Second World War; it existed in a machine gun version and in a 37mm gun version. Its small size and low weight made it a mobile reconnaissance vehicle committed on the Asian and Pacific battlefields.
As with every armored vehicle, finish and paint the running gear and the interior details before you close the hull — once it is glued, you will have no access to them. Assemble and fit the individual link tracks; on such a compact tankette they show to advantage. Use a primer and an airbrush; bring the Japanese camouflage to life with a dark wash in the recesses and pigments for mud and dust effects on the running gear. A drybrush will pick out the edges and the rivets.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
