This injection-molded plastic kit from Bronco joins the American light off-road vehicle GPW 1/4 ton 4x4 (Jeep) with the towed 37 mm M3A1 anti-tank gun, in 1:35 scale. The set holds a detailed vehicle as well as the gun, clear parts, photo-etched sheet and a cable; the exact contents are given on the box.
The GPW was the Ford version of the legendary Jeep, built under Willys license during the Second World War in enormous numbers for every branch of the Allied armies. The small but versatile vehicle with 4x4 drive suited reconnaissance, liaison and towing light weapons. The M3 gun of 37 mm caliber was the standard American light anti-tank gun; the M3A1 version was given a muzzle brake, among other things. The gun was commonly moved hitched behind just such a Jeep, and in action the crew quickly unhitched it and brought it into a firing position. The pairing of a light vehicle with a gun thus made a mobile anti-tank team.
Glue the small parts of the vehicle and the gun with deliberation; the thin photo-etched items, the brackets, clips and grilles, add realism but call for patience and thin cement. Unify the vehicle and the gun with an olive green base, lighten the edges gently and weather the running gear and the wheels with dust and mud pigments. Use the cable from the package to suggest the towing gear. The whole will stand out on a small diorama with crew figures at the unhitched gun.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
