The real subject

The Roma was a battleship of the Littorio class of the Italian royal navy. She was launched in 1940 and entered service in 1942 as one of the most modern units of her class. The main armament consisted of guns of 381 mm caliber in three turrets, and the propulsion was provided by steam turbines. The ship was sunk in September 1943 while moving to La Maddalena. In 1:350 scale the model comes out very long, so fine accessories tell on it very markedly.

Building and painting tips

Accessory sets for ship models hold small parts that have to be separated with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface and glued with cyanoacrylate, as ordinary cement for polystyrene has no effect on metal or resin parts. Fit the parts dry first and check the fit. Make the folds over a metal ruler or in a bending tool, not with your fingers. Metal parts need a base coat, that is a primer, as otherwise the paint will not hold. It is advisable to fit the set gradually during the build, not onto a finished model, as there are many places you would not reach later.
