The enlarged version of the Walleye II glide bomb in two pieces together with an underwing pod, a resin set in 1:48.
Responsibility details are not available.
When it turned out that the original glide bomb was not enough against massive concrete structures, a version with a considerably heavier warhead came about. It served mainly over North Vietnam against bridges and dams, where it mattered that a single hit should really damage a structure. The principle stayed the same: a camera seeker head, no propulsion and a glide to a contrasting point chosen in advance.
The higher weight meant a shorter glide path, so a crew had to get closer to the target than with the lighter variant. That is exactly why later versions brought widened wings and the option of watching the picture continuously from the underwing pod that completes the set. The weapon was carried by carrier-based machines of the US Navy and by US Air Force aircraft alike.
In the package you will find two bombs and one pod. The seeker head has the window of the sensor drawn out, panel lines are apparent on the body and the rear fins have crisp edges. Remove the casting blocks with a fine-toothed saw and level the surface on sandpaper laid on a flat board, otherwise the bomb will tilt on the pylon. The set is figured for 1:48 scale and suits kits of American attack types of the 1960s and 1970s.
