A detailed replacement engine for a model of the Bristol Bulldog biplane in 1:48 scale. This variant of the set is in the form with rocker covers on the cylinder heads.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Bristol Bulldog is a British single-seat fighter biplane. At the turn of the 1920s and 1930s it formed the backbone of the fighter squadrons of the Royal Air Force and it also flew in other countries. It was powered by a Bristol Jupiter nine-cylinder radial, which remained largely exposed and is one of the most striking features of the whole aircraft.
The set replaces the engine from a kit with a finely made assembly with carefully rendered cylinder fins and valve gear. This form matches the engine with rocker covers, that is with the valve gear enclosed on the cylinder heads. A variant without rocker covers is offered alongside it, so the choice follows from the particular machine you are building.
The parts are not polystyrene, they are joined with cyanoacrylate glue, and it is a good idea to wash and degrease them before painting. Before gluing, check how the engine seats against the cowling ring and the front bulkhead of the fuselage. A dark base followed by lightening the edges of the fins will emphasize the relief of the cylinders, and the rocker covers carry a different sheen from the aluminum cylinders and will take a shade of their own. It is worth finishing the engine block and letting it dry before it is glued into the fuselage.
The set suits modelers who want to bring out the most visible part of the powerplant on an interwar biplane. The work covers a small area but calls for patience in cleaning up small parts. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
