This item is not a model of an aircraft but a detailed cockpit set from Reskit, printed in resin by 3D printing. It is intended for the kit of the American fighter-bomber Republic F-105D Thunderchief in its late version in 1:48 scale (the HobbyBoss kit). In the Detailed form the instrument panels are worked up into fine relief and ready for hand painting, which gives the modeler full control over the final look.

The real subject and the set

The F-105 Thunderchief was a heavy single-seat fighter-bomber, deployed above all during the Vietnam War, where it bore the main weight of strike missions over North Vietnam. The late version differed in its cockpit equipment. The set replaces the production cockpit tub with a more accurate resin part with richer detail.

Building tips

• Wash the parts in warm water with detergent and let them dry.
• Cut the print supports off with a sharp knife and dry-fit the part into the fuselage.
• Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate); paint the panels by hand and bring the detail out with a wash.
• Protect your airways when sanding resin and keep the room ventilated.
