A set of exhaust nozzles for a model of the F-14A Tomcat aircraft in 1:48 scale containing both the open and the closed form.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-14A Tomcat is a twin-engine carrier fighter with a variable-sweep wing. The position of the exhaust nozzles at its rear end changes with the state the machine was caught in, and modelers therefore choose it according to a photograph of a particular aircraft.
This item brings both forms together: nozzles in the open and in the closed position for a model in 1:48 scale. That does away with a decision at the time of purchase, and the unused parts stay in reserve for the next build. The exact numbers of parts are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The parts are not polystyrene; they are glued with cyanoacrylate. Cut surplus material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest flat, so that the glued surface seats without a gap. Before painting, wash and degrease the parts, or the paint will hold poorly on them. Paint the inner faces of the nozzles before you seat them in the fuselage; once glued you will no longer reach them. Try the fit dry so that the replacement follows the outline of the fuselage.
It suits modelers who build several F-14A machines or who want to decide during the build what state to build the model in. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
