A replacement landing gear for a model of the Westland Lysander in 1:48 scale, in the version without fairings, with the legs and wheels exposed.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Westland Lysander was a British high-wing monoplane of the Second World War, originally intended for army cooperation and liaison duties. It became famous for its ability to take off and land on a short strip, thanks to which it was later used on night flights into occupied Europe. Its landing gear was fixed, with massive legs growing out from under the fuselage.
The set replaces the landing gear in the version without fairings. Where the kit allows for smoothly faired legs, you get an exposed structure with wheels, that is, a form that looks far more varied on a model and is worth showing.
First dry-fit the parts to the fuselage and check the angle of the legs and the height at which the model sits on its wheels. Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder away. Before painting, wash, degrease and apply a base coat. The manufacturer's instructions state the recommended glue and procedure.
The landing gear legs and the wheels take wear well: dust on the tires, rubbed edges and dirt working upward from the ground add credibility to the whole. Paint the wheels separately and fit them only at the end, so that paint does not clog the contact surface.
For builders of the Lysander in 1:48 scale who want to build the model in the version with an exposed landing gear. It will also serve anyone who damaged the original parts or simply lost them during the build.
The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
