A plastic kit of the two-seat night jet fighter Messerschmitt Me 262 B-1a/U1 in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. It is an injection-molded model in gray plastic with engraved panel lines, the lengthened two-seat cockpit, a clear canopy and jet engines beneath the wings. The boxing represents the night version with the antennas of an airborne radar in the nose.
The Me 262 was the first jet fighter to see combat. The B-1a/U1 version came from the conversion of a two-seat trainer into a night fighter: the second crew member operated the airborne radar, whose characteristic aerial masts projected from the nose. It was used in the very last stage of the war in small numbers against night raids.
Assemble and paint the lengthened two-seat cockpit before closing up the fuselage; it is usually worth adding ballast in the nose because of the nose gear. Fit the fine radar antennas right at the end so they do not break off. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic; dark night camouflage is best handled with an airbrush and a matte clear coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
