The MiG-29 is a Soviet single-seat twin-engine fighter of the 1980s. The 9-13 version can be told from the earlier machines by the deeper spine behind the cockpit, which held more fuel and further equipment. The cockpit is covered by a bulged canopy with a good field of view, so once the model is finished practically the whole of it is visible, including the side consoles and the rear bulkhead.
The set brings color cockpit parts printed on decal paper. The print has relief, so the instruments and the controls have their own raised shape and after application they do not look like a printed flat surface. The parts have no adhesive layer of their own. A part is cut out, placed in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slid off the paper into place; a decal softener does not belong here, as it would attack the printed resin.
First spray the base, let the paint cure and cover it with a gloss coat such as Future, Klear or Tamiya X-22, because the part holds most reliably on a gloss surface. Cut the parts out with a sharp knife close to the edge, and after a short soak slide them off the paper into place and align them with tweezers or a damp brush. Soak up the excess water with a cotton swab and on curved surfaces secure the part with a drop of cyanoacrylate. Finish the cockpit before you join the fuselage and fit the canopy.
The set is for modelers who want a detailed fighter cockpit without hand-painting the dials and switches. Even a beginner who does not trust themselves with small details will manage it. The package contains only the decals; the model, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
