Replacement exhaust nozzles for a model of the Grumman F-14A Tomcat in 1:32 scale, in both the open and the closed position. You choose the position according to the scene you are building.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Grumman F-14A Tomcat is a two-seat carrier fighter with a variable-sweep wing. The exhaust nozzles at the end of the fuselage are formed by movable petals whose cross-section changes with the engine setting. In photographs you will therefore find the same machine once with a closed and once with a spread rear end, and on a twin-engine aircraft quite possibly with each nozzle in a different position.
Nozzles in both forms: open with the petals spread and closed with them drawn together. The parts replace the original parts of the 1:32 kit, which tend to be thick-walled and shallow. On one model you will usually use a single pair, and the remaining parts stay in reserve or go to the next build. Suitability for a particular kit is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The parts are not polystyrene; they are glued with cyanoacrylate or two-part epoxy. Cut surplus material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest. Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry. Paint the inside before you glue the nozzles into the fuselage; apply the metallic shades and the heat discoloration in thin coats.
The set makes sense where you decide only once the fuselage is finished, or where you are building two models at once. Working with it is not demanding, but it wants a sharp blade and accurate sanding of the seat. The package contains only the parts stated; the model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
