The 1:48 Mirage F.1B model from Kitty Hawk is a kit of the two-seat version of the French swept-wing fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
Kitty Hawk has released the two-seat variant of the French Mirage F1 fighter, which is a trainer and combat capable at the same time. Compared with the single-seat machines it has a lengthened nose with two cockpits one behind the other, while it keeps the same swept wing and the conventional tail arrangement.
The Mirage F1 broke with the delta wing made famous by the Mirage III and received a high-set swept wing complemented by a horizontal tailplane. The result was a shorter take-off, better handling at low speeds and a larger internal fuel load. Power comes from an Atar turbojet with an afterburner. The two-seat variant gave up its built-in gun armament in favor of room for the second pilot, but it kept its combat capability and is also used for conversion training.
On machines with two cockpits it pays to finish both seats and panels at once, so that they match in shade. Dry-fit the air intakes with their characteristic cones and level any steps by sanding before painting. The French gray-blue camouflage schemes come out well if the surfaces are lightened slightly in the middle of the panels after painting.
The product is sold unassembled and unpainted; choose and obtain the modeling chemicals and the shades yourself.
