About product

Reskit 1:48 Red Top (2 pcs)

The package holds two 3D-printed resin Red Top missiles in 1:48 scale. This is an aftermarket accessory, not a model of an aircraft; the fine castings replace the armament from the box and fit onto the underwing pylons.

The real subject

Red Top was a British infrared-guided air-to-air missile, the successor to the earlier Firestreak. It offered a more capable seeker head and warhead and was typical armament of Cold War machines of the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy. It was carried, for example, by the English Electric Lightning interceptor, the carrier-borne de Havilland Sea Vixen and other contemporary types.

Building and painting tips

Wash the production residue off the castings, separate them from the carrier blocks and the 3D print supports and glue them with cyanoacrylate. Sand with respiratory protection. A primer base and airbrushing are recommended; tune the colors and markings to the particular carrier and period.

Who it is for

  • Builders of British Cold War fighters in 1:48
  • Modelers who want accurate period armament instead of the parts from the box
  • More experienced modelers working with resin

The accessory is supplied as a resin, 3D-printed set of parts, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
