Responsibility details are not available.
A detailed injection-molded plastic kit of the famous British destroyer as she stood in 1940. The 1:700 model comes from the maker FlyHawk, renowned for exceptionally fine engraving and finely broken-down parts. In the package you will find plastic sprues, a photo-etched fret for the finest items such as railings, radars and antennas, and a decal sheet. Because the parts are small and fine, this is a kit for careful and more experienced modelers.
HMS Kelly was a destroyer of the Royal Navy and the best known ship of her class. She became famous as the flagship of Lord Louis Mountbatten and survived several heavy damagings in the course of her service. Destroyers of this class were modern general-purpose ships with an armament of naval guns, torpedoes and antiaircraft weapons, and they carried the burden of hard service in many theaters.
The model can be built with the full hull on a stand or in the waterline version, set into the surface of the sea. Separate the fine plastic parts with a sharp knife and bond the photo-etched items with super glue. It pays to work in subassemblies and spray them separately. Gray shades suit the British camouflage of the period; a dark wash will bring out the grooves of the deck and the superstructure, and light dry-brushing will pick out the edges.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
