The Flyhawk 1:700 photo-etched set for the cruiser Takao is a detail set of photo-etched parts for a model of the Japanese heavy cruiser in her 1942 and 1944 versions in 1:700 scale. Intended for Aoshima kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an add-on detail set, not a ship model. The set from Flyhawk contains photo-etched metal parts and allows a model of the Japanese heavy cruiser Takao to be built in either the 1942 or the 1944 version in 1:700 scale. The set refines the railings, ladders, deck fittings and superstructures. The set is intended for Aoshima kits.
Takao was the lead ship of the heavy cruiser class of the same name in the Imperial Japanese Navy. She was marked by a large superstructure in the forward part of the ship and by heavy armament. The ship went through a series of refits, so her 1942 and 1944 configurations differ from each other, and the contents of the set reflect that.
Separate the fine photo-etched parts with a sharp knife on a hard surface and make the bends over a ruler or a photo-etch bending tool. Glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) or with an adhesive for photo-etch. Given the small 1:700 scale, work with tweezers and in good lighting. Before you start building, settle which of the two versions you want to make.
The set does not contain the ship model, paints or glue. It serves as an accessory to the kit.
