Technical markings for models of the Hawk aircraft: Xtradecal 1:72 BAe Hawk Maintenance Data is a sheet of maintenance lettering usable on all the paint schemes of the type.
Responsibility details are not available.
This sheet from the British Xtradecal brand does not concentrate on national insignia or on the colorful markings of units, but on the technical markings that appear around the service points on the real aircraft. It is put together so that it can be used on all the paint schemes of the Hawk type. It is an accessory to a plastic model in 1:72 scale; the aircraft and the paints are not in the envelope. The exact composition of the lettering is given in the list the manufacturer encloses with the sheet.
Real aircraft are densely covered with small lettering: where the fuel and the oil go in, which way the rescue of the crew runs, where it is safe to step, where nobody may stand while the engine is running. On a model these small things make the difference between a toy and a faithful miniature, because the eye reads them as evidence of scale. On trainers there tends to be especially a lot of lettering, because they are worked on every day on the ground.
Count on the work going more slowly than with large insignia. Light your bench from above and have a magnifier and a sharp scalpel ready, because the markings are often only a few millimeters long. Apply them one at a time and check the alignment against the drawing straight away. Use softener sparingly, so that the small print does not ripple. Once dry, durability is secured by a top coat of varnish in the same degree of gloss as the surrounding area.
